Thanks for visiting!
This is only intended to be a simple web site with no bells & whistles.
A random selection of pictures will be regularly updated on this front page.
This is meant as an information site for club members to keep in touch, visitors who may wish to visit the club and potential members that may want to join.
Please spare a thought for recently deceased members Phil Hope (top left) and Frank Sheppard (bottom right). Steve Cox, also deceased never liked having his photo taken.
All articles, videos & information on this site are without prejudice.
The first picture is of the late, great Phil Hope, a giant and character in the town and this club for many years. Steve Cox, another late member hated photos of himself, and so we respect his wish not to have any published.

What information does anyone have from the club's formation as the Railway Canteen in 1957?
Names worth a mention are Ben Reffell, Bryn Brunt, Vic the doorman, Gary Dearman (who had three months for telling the committee they were a bunch of ******), Dennis Lang, Sis, Reg & Mona Gunter, Bill Davies (father of our Chairman), The Leeke family, Gethin Pritchard, Tommy Faye, JackPrice (remember the Sunday morning nutters club with guess the identity of the person in the coffin on stage, supplied by Johnny The Box - It was Jack. Other nutters club stunts that go down in legend include the winner of a raffle for a chicken dinner. The winner did not know that a live chicken had been sedated and placed in a sack, only to be woken and presented to the winner as it flew around the room); Buster (does anyone remember the indoor bowls on a Monday Night), Johnny The Box (undertaker), Vic Hillman (Old Man River), Mick Coity, Ned Bryant, and not forgetting Mal Williams, Howard Bater amonst many.
This is only a start, there are many more people to mention.
We need lots of pics & info from Ex 39 club members as this is an important part of our club's history.
Items worth a mention might be the memorable night that Owen Money appeared at the club on Live Aid night, July 13th, 1985.The legendary Fred Emms was compere, the rest is history.
What about the Pool Marathon in 1979 which took place over 24 hours in tandem with Bridgend Athletic Club. Players took turns for 2 hour shifts. Although the bar was closed, everyone had a good supply of flagons and the resulting merryment welcomed a police raid investigating a report of burglary at 4am. The presentation was made by Scottish international rugby player, Wilson Lauder. For the benefit of pool players The late Spencer Bell, who has a memorial trophy played for by the pool league is the man with long hair and a brown cardigan in the pool league marathon pics 1 & 2. Our club has an annual pool tournament in memory of Dave Crokeham who died at the young age of 36 a few years ago.
Image Gallery
Photos needed as we are now able to expand this gallery.
Double click any picture at the bottom to stop the slide show and show an enlarged picture with caption.
The slide show can be re-started at any time following the prompts.
Most of the pictures shown are from 20 year old prints that have faded a great deal, many have mildew & stains / rips. We have done our best to restore them. New digital prints should show quite a difference.
Who is the youngster at the middle of the pool marathon 1st pic with a cue in his hand?
Although these images are intended to be a light hearted look at the past, it is also a chance to remember past members who are no longer with us.
Lots more information is needed - more stories please!!!!!!!
